THE HEALTH CONDITION OF MR PRESIDENT:

It is completely normal for any human being to get sick from time to time. It is a reminder that we are mortals’. Mr. President is a mortal who can be sick at a split of seconds; he is not a super human.  However, I think why his health condition is becoming a national debate to some sorts is because of the kind of system of government we run. A presidential system of government presupposes that the entire administration is centered on just a ‘person’; this is unlike the parliamentary system of government.
Again, the presidential media aids are not helping matters as they are keeping the health condition of Mr President secret, creating room for speculations among Nigerians as to what has happened to the man they elected as a leader. Sincerely, the President needs some medical holiday as suggested by some esteemed Nigerians and anybody denying him of such opportunity is an enemy of the President and the nation.
The people who are giving fake prophecy that if something happens to Mr President that the nation will be in a state of crisis, should go and sleep because nothing will happen, the heavens will not fall. Ours is a constitutional democracy and the document has detailed the conditions to follow in every situation. It is this kind of mentality that will make some people gather somewhere to decide the fate of Nigerians because they have ruled this country in the past, thus creating a mystical barricade around themselves when we have institutional framework that will handle crisis situations.
The health status of Mr President should not just be a family affairs because he is a public ‘property’ and the people of Nigeria deserve to know his health condition, so that when they pray, they know what they are actually praying for. If the President is sick, Nigeria is sick. Honestly the man should take a medical break; we have an able Vice President.

THE SILENCE OF OMISSION

Silence means consent, a certain school of thought holds. That means if you fail to speak up against anything wrong, you can be charged with supporting the wrong you failed to speak up about.

The End SARS Protests

I have been quiet since the end sars movement started. Not because I didn’t want to speak but because I was hoping for it to culminate into something tangible and bring about the positive change that a lot of Nigerians desired. I remember having a conversation about it with someone and I prayed that it would not spiral out of control. I wanted a positive change but I wasn’t prepared for the cost of laying down lives because I sensed that it was going to get to that should the protesters expand their agitation to good governance. The powers that be would not surrender without a fight and they have the resources of the government on their side. They would claim that the protesters wanted to topple a “democratically elected” president. And that would make it illegal. And what is democratic about a president who has refused to listen to the cries of the people? In their short memory however, they have forgotten that this same president came into power for the first time in 1985 after a coup...
