DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

While I was growing up, it was believed generally that a man should not hit a woman and that a husband should not beat his wife. Now I am hearing something different; that a man can beat his wife because some women deserve to be beaten.
The problem with the women in this generation is lack of character, lack of respect and for some a tendency to cheat on their husbands.

While i'm not supporting wife battery, you will agree with me that marriages of this age are laden with issues. Let's examine the issues:

Women are paying for their own weddings these days. There has being a serious challenge in the department of some men providing for their wives. Rather than go on their knees and pray to God to help their husbands become adequate providers, a lot of women would prefer to insult, confront and belittle the man. This does a lot of damage to the ego and self esteem of the man. Some of the men would lash out in return and hit their women.
A wife is called to support her husband especially when he is going through trying times.

Women generally are quick tongued speaking before they think. Some men react violently to being disrespected and insulted but a wise man should be able to ignore and overlook these. Or better still let the women control their tongues.

Some many girls these days cheat on their husbands with some colleague in the office claiming the sex is good. Many of them cannot even help themselves anymore because they feel they have a good reason to.
But you don't change your mother because the food from your friend's mother is better. Neither do you change your family because there is more fun in your neighbours house. If they find their spouses lacking in the sexual department, they should together seek help from a professional counsellor.

THE SILENCE OF OMISSION

Silence means consent, a certain school of thought holds. That means if you fail to speak up against anything wrong, you can be charged with supporting the wrong you failed to speak up about.

The End SARS Protests

I have been quiet since the end sars movement started. Not because I didn’t want to speak but because I was hoping for it to culminate into something tangible and bring about the positive change that a lot of Nigerians desired. I remember having a conversation about it with someone and I prayed that it would not spiral out of control. I wanted a positive change but I wasn’t prepared for the cost of laying down lives because I sensed that it was going to get to that should the protesters expand their agitation to good governance. The powers that be would not surrender without a fight and they have the resources of the government on their side. They would claim that the protesters wanted to topple a “democratically elected” president. And that would make it illegal. And what is democratic about a president who has refused to listen to the cries of the people? In their short memory however, they have forgotten that this same president came into power for the first time in 1985 after a coup...
