A LETTER TO SOUTH EASTERN NIGERIANS

Dear people of Igbo extraction,
I did a piece not too long ago on my apology to you for not understanding your anger towards President Buhari. I felt your pulse and saw your agitations over what you termed deliberate sidelining of Igbos in this APC led government.

But I also want to bring to your notice things that could have led to the purported sidelining.
Impunity was one of the strongest campaign concerns of this APC government along with corruption. And thank God the fight against corruption has started and is on-going. Are you aware that there is a senator named Stella Oduah from Anambra state currently occupying  a seat in the Nigerian senate who was dropped for alleged corruption in the then Jonathan led government who after her sack not only received praises from her people but also contested and was voted for in the last elections. Obviously and even till now, she sees nothing wrong with what she did and her people agree with her.

Do you also know that based on the feelers from the last general elections, the Igbos were the strongest voices that cried against buhari describing him as a beast who was immune to human feelings?

Based on the campaign propaganda by South Easterners in the last elections again, they do not care if corruption kills this country, urging former president Goodluck Jonathan on, the only thing they care about is that he is their brother.

Are you nationalists? I might as well ask. Do you put the interest of this country ahead of your personal interests. And now you want to serve in the government. Nigeria is bigger than tribes and ethnic groups.

The Biafra agitations is not a solution to this Issue. This is the time to arise and work together to save this nation. President Buhari already has his hands full with the economic situation. Lend him your support and let everyone work hard to save this country. Who knows, if we all work together, we could just end the age long hatred between all our tribes and Nigeria would rise to great heights.

Thank you.

Ukwuoma.

THE GAINS AND LOSSES OF THE ABSENCE OF MR PRESIDENT: BY UWAKWE ROLAND.

President Muhammadu Buhari has been absent from duty since the last few months on a purported medical checkup in London. Good a thing he legally transferred power to the Vice President who is now the acting President, this is unlike the imbroglio that played out during Yar’adua’s time when the National Assembly had to invoke the doctrine of necessity so as to effectively transfer power to then Vice President Goodluck Jonathan. The problem is that even as an acting President, Yemi Osinbanjo has limited powers to fully assume responsibility as the commander in chief, this is because most of the big government functionaries may still owe their loyalty to Mr President, couple with this, Buhari appointed people of his like minds who may not comfortably work with the acting President that will want to bring his knowledge of law and practice into governance. Hence the long absence of Mr President may eventually result to a slow down of democratic dividends. The above ...

GETTING MARRIED AND BEING SUCCESSFUL AFTER 30

Many people see the big 3.0 as a landmark age. To them at 30 you should have accomplished all your goals, gotten married and had a few kids. This view although popular is sometimes unhealthy , because real success and achievements take time. Not everyone who is unmarried at 30 will marry late or unaccomplished at 30 is a failure. For short term goals and minimal achievements, 30 is fine. I even read about someone bragging on how she had a masters degree and was married with two kids at 30. The question no one asked her was 'what had she done with the masters degree and how her children were faring academically? ' It's not enough to get married and have kids before 30 or even finish a masters degree? Is she fulfilled as a person? Had she discovered purpose and was she on her way to fulfilling it? You see we all want to brag when it seems as if we better than the next person. Alas! Many of us are ignorant. Many Nigerian billionaires became billionaires only after 30, many ...
