AN OPEN LETTER TO BUHARI

Dear Readers,

I must start by apologizing to you all.

I always wondered why a lot of people were not happy with Buhari.

I had a conversation with my sister yesterday and I finally understood why.

Mr President, the people are asking for an all inclusive government. A government that reflects all sectors of the Nigerian populace. A government that would include all people irrespective of what geo-political zone a person is from.

A government that would put behind the voting pattern of the last elections and understand that everybody cannot vote for you. People vote based on how they perceive a candidate, it is left for you to prove them wrong.

My people believe that you are on a revenge mission. Rewarding those who voted for you and punishing those who did not. Listen to their complaints and do something about it. Include them in your government and carry them along with whatever you are doing. Show them that you are for all Nigerians. They have a lot to contribute to this government.

My sincere apologies again for not understanding where the people are coming from.

Regards,
Ukwuoma.

The End SARS Protests

I have been quiet since the end sars movement started. Not because I didn’t want to speak but because I was hoping for it to culminate into something tangible and bring about the positive change that a lot of Nigerians desired. I remember having a conversation about it with someone and I prayed that it would not spiral out of control. I wanted a positive change but I wasn’t prepared for the cost of laying down lives because I sensed that it was going to get to that should the protesters expand their agitation to good governance. The powers that be would not surrender without a fight and they have the resources of the government on their side. They would claim that the protesters wanted to topple a “democratically elected” president. And that would make it illegal. And what is democratic about a president who has refused to listen to the cries of the people? In their short memory however, they have forgotten that this same president came into power for the first time in 1985 after a coup...
