BEING BLACK

Black is beauty so goes the saying.

I am black and proud of it. Some people shy away from being black. They've developed a complex that tells them they look like white people because they are fair skinned. To some people beauty is being artificial so they throw in money to lightening beauty products bleaching their skin in the name of looking beautiful.

They think something is wrong with them because they are black and somehow that they are inferior to white people and that their beauty is second class.

Ain't nothing wrong with being black my friend. Beauty is in all colours. Nothing says you are not beautiful because you are black. You are pretty in fact.
In Nigeria for example the prettiest and most sought after actresses are dark girls taking being dark to new heights.

Get rid of the complex therefore, be black and shine. Ain't nothing wrong with being black my friend, black is beautiful.

The End SARS Protests

I have been quiet since the end sars movement started. Not because I didn’t want to speak but because I was hoping for it to culminate into something tangible and bring about the positive change that a lot of Nigerians desired. I remember having a conversation about it with someone and I prayed that it would not spiral out of control. I wanted a positive change but I wasn’t prepared for the cost of laying down lives because I sensed that it was going to get to that should the protesters expand their agitation to good governance. The powers that be would not surrender without a fight and they have the resources of the government on their side. They would claim that the protesters wanted to topple a “democratically elected” president. And that would make it illegal. GETTING MARRIED AND BEING SUCCESSFUL AFTER 30

Many people see the big 3.0 as a landmark age. To them at 30 you should have accomplished all your goals, gotten married and had a few kids. This view although popular is sometimes unhealthy , because real success and achievements take time. Not everyone who is unmarried at 30 will marry late or unaccomplished at 30 is a failure. For short term goals and minimal achievements, 30 is fine. I even read about someone bragging on how she had a masters degree and was married with two kids at 30. The question no one asked her was 'what had she done with the masters degree and how her children were faring academically? ' It's not enough to get married and have kids before 30 or even finish a masters degree? Is she fulfilled as a person? Had she discovered purpose and was she on her way to fulfilling it?
