CUSTOMER SERVICE

Been busy this week. Hoping from bank to phone shop and what have you. And I got it slapped in my face in every business entity i was in that Nigerian businesses need to take customer service very seriously.


Employees expect you to cajole them to render a service they are paid for. Rudeness and non-chalance seem to be topping my list of bad qualities amongst business employees especially those that interface with customers.

They do not care about performing their jobs and I'm not even sure they are mindful of the fact that they are working for a business.

Another set of qualities top on my list again is incompetence and of course inefficiency. Perhaps the reason why they are rude is because they lack the skills or education to do a good job.

The trend of companies hiring unqualified people to fill certain positions is not admirable when it is clear that you need professionals in those roles. Why not hire professionals to do a professionals job? Effort should be made to hire the right and best men for the job.
Business employees have forgotten the first rule of business which says the customer is always right and that adequate attention should be paid to every customer.

Some people even tell you "it's not even my job, I'm just doing it",  when you are working for a business?

When you express concern over poor satisfaction of services rendered, they become defensive,argumentative or even insulting.

The beginning of the downfall of any business is employees misbehaving. They are not scared of the loss of their jobs neither do they know the impact performance has on a business. I blame it on little or poor education.

GETTING MARRIED AND BEING SUCCESSFUL AFTER 30

Many people see the big 3.0 as a landmark age. To them at 30 you should have accomplished all your goals, gotten married and had a few kids. This view although popular is sometimes unhealthy , because real success and achievements take time. Not everyone who is unmarried at 30 will marry late or unaccomplished at 30 is a failure. For short term goals and minimal achievements, 30 is fine. I even read about someone bragging on how she had a masters degree and was married with two kids at 30. The question no one asked her was 'what had she done with the masters degree and how her children were faring academically?
